Abstract

This study addresses the growing problem that many cloud and enterprise environments are investing in artificial intelligence and advanced computing for cyber defense without clear evidence of how these capabilities translate into resilient performance under attack. The purpose is to empirically examine how AI capability and advanced computing capacity contribute to cyber defense resilience in real organizational settings. A quantitative, cross sectional, case-based survey was conducted with organizations that operate AI enabled security solutions on cloud, high performance, and edge or fog infrastructures, yielding 220 usable responses from 310 distributed questionnaires (70.9 percent) from cybersecurity and IT professionals. Core variables included AI capability, advanced computing capacity, cybersecurity readiness, and a composite cyber defense resilience index. Data were analyzed using reliability and factor analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations, and multiple regression. Results show moderately high AI capability (M = 3.72, SD = 0.71) and advanced computing capacity (M = 3.85, SD = 0.66), but only moderate resilience (M = 3.61, SD = 0.69). AI capability (β = 0.39, p < .001) and advanced computing capacity (β = 0.27, p < .001) significantly predict resilience in a model that explains 61 percent of variance (R² = 0.61), with strong correlations between AI and resilience (r = .62) and computing and resilience (r = .55). These findings indicate that resilient cyber defense in cloud and enterprise contexts depends on the integrated development of AI analytics, scalable computing infrastructures, and cybersecurity readiness, offering actionable guidance for CISOs and security architects.
